Dr. Mary Telisak

PhD - Marriage & Family Therapy

Licensed Counselor (WI & IA)

I take a compassionate approach to counseling and encourage my clients to take a compassionate approach to themselves as well.  Respect for your values and your goals are my top priority.  My therapeutic intention is to walk with you through whatever stage of life’s journey you are in, and to help you get wherever it is that you want to go – spiritually, emotionally, or relationally.

I believe that relationships are the heart of the human experience, and accordingly, are often at the heart of an individual’s strengths or struggles.  I specialize in issues associated with marital conflict, immediate- or extended-family challenges, and other personal or interpersonal stressors.  I see individuals, couples, and families interested in learning how to coexist, thrive, grow, change, or heal.  I often see individuals recovering from trauma or working through grief.  I have specialized knowledge and experience in issues specific to law enforcement officers and their families.

I bring nearly 15 years of mental health experience to our time together. Previous clients have called me “real” and “personable.”  They have voiced appreciation for my straight-forward and honest approach to therapy.  I strive to be patient, kind, and authentic.  I will wholeheartedly bring myself into every session with you – you will get to know me, as I hope to get to know you.

Whether you are looking for mild self-reflection, moderate personal growth, or some serious healing, I am ready and here for you.  If you are interested in scheduling a counseling session with me, please reach out via email or phone.

Education & Experience

My clinical experience is diverse - spanning from juvenile residential treatment to community mental health, and group private practice. I have counseled individuals and families working in public service, with the U.S. military, and in leadership roles at fortune-500 companies. My 15+ years of work as a therapist are motivated by my deep respect for the processes involved in healing from trauma, personal growth, and the nurturing of a marriage and family.  I started Keystone Counseling when my spouse and I moved back "home" to northern WI. I am thrilled to be a part of this community and look forward to contributing to mental health awareness and wellness in the Chippewa Valley.
